Cooking Attempt - Part II

Sunday, October 26th, 2008. "Swish, swish, swish", amidst the shuffling sounds from the majong tiles, I'm again "haunted" by the question of what to have for dinner. Day in day out, other than thinking of how to earn more money, stay relevant to the market, be happy, it's the unavoidable task of eating to fill up our stomach.

Never a food person, I always only eat to keep my stomach full, or rather, to stop it from being hungry. So, a question like this always leave me in a difficult position, since, my family aren't exactly like me.

For instance, my parents need a more healthy diet, my husband has a really big appetite but.. seriously need a tasty and healthy diet, my adolescent nephew, niece and boyfriend, needs food that can aid their growth; but one that needs to ensure a trim and slim figure, my sister, brother in law and toddler niece also have a different set of diet. So, my favourite food, Tom Yam instant noodle, is usually a big No No for them.

Li Hoon: Let's cook something.

Lina: Good!

Ah Girl: I want to cook too. How about fried rice?

"Serious?"

"Yup," a monotonous tone as eyes were fully concentrating on the tiles

Lina: Really?!, an almost cheerful squeal.

(note: above interaction is a vague recal of the exchanged of communications. Who exactly suggested the fried rice, etc, is lost amidst the buzz of the majong game :P )

19:00: The chat went back and forth and surprisingly, I'm back in the wet market to shop for the ingredients for our dinner.

However, knowing our big appetite, I bought nearly $10 worth of fruits so that they can help to fill up the stomach of the group. And, almost cruely, I had to ban my mum from the kitchen so that she can have a rest, while the trainees can have a chance to try their cooking without any pressure. :S
