Flying to Macau and Hong Kong - 02
March 1st: Promotions from Park Royal Hotel, a 5 star hotel - room rate going from over 2000 HKD to 700 ++ HKD. Yen is having majong, Liyun is resisting the temptations hard so that she can still get the budget of SGD100 per night, while Yy is busy with work and preparations for Grace's wedding, and Liping is still stucked with Shamrock. We had computer calls, chat and chat, but decided to hold til a meeting on 3rd March at Liyun's place.
March 2nd: Announcement to postpone meeting to 4th March as it again dawned on Liyun that it's only one day before "sister's" birthday.
March 4th: Park Royal is gone! Prudential, increased from 120 to 143! Mad search begins, with everyone attempting their search skills online, hoping to find a few more good deals. Booking.com, asistravel.com, hotelhk.com, zuji.com.sg and even zuji.com.hk (hoping to find better promotions in), ....
temperature level increases, body temperature increases, frustrations ]
keyboard clicking away, Liyun finishing her 4th snack of the day, and .... seconds, minutes, and soon hours went past.
[ exhaustion increases, disappointment increases and budget forgo! ]
It's now almost 30 minutes more to 12 midnight. Liyun clicked on last two rooms for Prudential, one at 1300 HKD for two nights, and another at 1400 HKD for two nights (for the same type of room!).
"Early bird rates gone!" Carol let out a yell.
Suddenly, it dawned on Liyun that she has so anxiously booked the rooms that she had snatched it without Carol, who need to book a 3rd room for her 3 nights stay.
For a moment, it seemed like a trading floor.
Mad typing again and Liyun found a better rate (Better RATE!!! less 100HKD ) in hotelhk.com. Goodness, that's what panic gets us into.
Our hesitation cost us the 5 star room, our panic costs 100HKD. We booked our flight tickets early, thinking it's the best rate. Then, better rate came.
So, when is the best timing? Honestly, you never know when. People say, just be ready to grab the opportunity. Be like the mouse, Hem or Haw? Ready for change.... But, when it happens, do you really know it's a good change, or, do you know, it's an opportunity, or, a loss?
I say, you never know. Only when a better offer came, or, a worse off one is available. Then, you get a better idea of where you stand. You thought, you took the best timing, but still change happens, and suddenly, the "value" of perception changes.
I think, first, we have to appreciate what we had. We had the best team, we had Carol to do all the search and the super comprehensive map. We had a good team and a common goal. All of us want to enjoy ourselves and...
