Flying to Macau and Hong Kong - 03
Monday, March 9, 2009. 4 more days to our trip. More work to clear. Honestly, I do not know and should never believe they can be cleared. I've just got to be more realistic, if it can be, I will be jobless soon. :p I take this as a consolation ;)
Wednesday will be the 2nd therapy session for mum. I hope that this session will give her more confidence to travel oversea (finally!). Come to think of it, this is the 3rd time I ever tried to invite her. Each time, she changed her mind after hearing some news or, she started expressing some discomfort. Honestly, I really hope that it is more of a psychology thing than a health problem. I'm glad though, the last few exercise with her, just seemed to show that she looked better.
Although a short 4 day trip in Macau and Honkong, the preparation seems to take forever. Now, it seemed like we are so close to it and I'm feeling more ill prepared. But looking at the itinery from Carol, I know, we are in good hands.
It's ironic how a short lunch session almost a year back, suposedly a 4 girl trip, turns out to be a 9 pax trip. I certainly look forward to it and really appreciate the gang for being so understanding and accomodative to my wish.
Today, the total cost of the trip summed up to an expected amount of ab.t SGD$2500 to SGD$3000 for the four of us (abt. 625 to 750) , including:
- one way ticket through Tiger (abt. SGD$80/pax, additional 10 for luggage) to Macau
- 1 night hotel stay in Metropark Hotel (abt. SGD$110/room)
- 2 night hotel stay in Prudential (abt. SGD$143/room/night)
- one way ticket through Jetstar (abt. SGD$140/pax), back from Hong Kong
Misc cost includes:
- visa cost to go to Shenzhen (for Malaysia passport) (abt. SGD$35/pax)
- average allowance for food/spending/travel (abt. SGD$300/pax)
- turbo jet from Macau to Hong Kong (abt. SGD$30 to 50 /pax)
- HKD220 (abt. SGD$40++) Airport Express Travel Pass (includes HKD50 refundable deposit) with 1 single journey on Airport Express, 3 days of unlimited travel on MTR (like our MRT in Singapore), except Airport Express, Light Rail, MTR Bus, East rail line first class, Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations.
(the travel pass will be very worthwhile esp. if you are a shopaholic, and you are planning to travel up and down the train rides for the shopping deals or even some additional sight seeing!)
If we scrimp and save, just to enjoy more of the sight seeing, it's definitely possible to keep it to less than 600 per pax for a 4 day trip. But of course, unless it's my dad or my husband, otherwise, it's really hard to resist ourselves from the "Must Buy" from the factory outlets. >_<"
Even so, it's really amazing how travelling cost has substantially reduced with the introduction of budget airlines. Barely 6 years back (Aug 2003), the air ticket alone already cost us more than SGD$700 per pax! If only, I can resist going then, and wait til now, I'm sure I can enjoy more with the amount I had spent then! :P
